Fleet Safety Certification: What it is to Become Certified

Safer Drivers don’t just happen and Road Safety isn’t just inside the vehicle – it’s a comprehensive approach. This means that educating drivers on the dangers on and off the road is the key to an effective driving safety management strategy. Fleet Safety Certification is a key piece of protecting drivers from driving incidents and saving your company from exposure to insurance, damage and injury liabilities. Fleet Safety Certification provides driving training that enables companies to effectively manage risks. It provides the tools to identify and deal with risky behaviours before they lead to a driving incident – preventing injuries and costly collisions. Becoming certified teaches defensive driving and driving safety best practices. A Fleet Safety Certificate involves training that shows a fleet driver or manager has taken a defensive driving course and completed fleet safety education. Courses are available online or in-person depending upon preferences and the training program chosen. Notably, the YD Fleet Certification programs offers solutions to collision liability, how to reduce vehicle incidents and insurance premium risk profiles, how to practice safe driving and how to boost fleet efficiencies through intelligent driving. Topics covered include:

  • Driving Safety Training – including defensive driving techniques.
  • Road Risk Mitigation – to address the most common causes of and how to avoid collisions, as well as identifying dangerous situations before it’s too late.
  • Workplace Safety – focussing on being prepared to drive inclusive of preventing driver fatigue related incidents.
  • Distraction Risk Minimization – dealing with avoiding common distractions and negative habits.
  • Community Safety – covering pedestrian, bicycle, motorcycle and other roadway users safety.
